Description
Cadmium yellow light artist color with high pigment content, pure linseed oil and without solvents. The consistency is like butter at room temperature, and for many artists the paint can be used directly from the tube without the addition of paint.
Cadmium yellow light is made with the pigment (PY37) (CdS) Cadmium sulfide. It is a color pigment which was invented by the German chemist Friedrich Stromeyer in 1817, and came into production in 1840. The artist color became quite quickly popular, and pretty much everyone started using it. Think here of e.g. Monet, van Gogh, Edward Munch, Picasso and Mondrian.
Cadmium yellow replaced chrome yellow for many artists, in part because it was more opaque. Chrome Yellow otherwise got off to a good start as a bit of a miracle when it was invented in 1790, and was produced from 1816. Chromium is included in PbCrO4 (Lead Chromate), but ‘chromium’ in the naming did not refer so much to the substance chrome, as it referred to the Greek word chroma for color. More freely translated here is meant colorful or high color intensity; and herein in the miraculous. Chrome yellow contained lead, but the color was not as stable as cadmium later turned out to be. Chrome yellow did not fade otherwise, but unlike Cadmium yellow, it suffered from so-called color change through oxidation. It got darker and redder. As an artist, you naturally want to avoid your works changing too much character over time. Since then, it has been possible to produce stable chrome yellows and without lead, but it is and will not be as popular as the cadmium yellows.
Cadmium yellow light is an intense color in all its shades. With all the blue colors, it gives valuable green sounds. It is the best yellow color in oil painting, and can be mixed with almost all colors, with the exception of the historical pigment cover green (Schweinfurter green), which does not belong to our range.

Cadmium colors are a group of colors that are primarily in the spectrum from yellow to orange to red. The pigments in those colors all have an unsurpassed good lightfastness and are used diligently by many artists around the world.
This oil paint can and must be mixed with oil paints from other manufacturers. The same goes for paint. Since this is such a chemically pure and simple product without mysterious fillers, it must also be mixed with your own favorite paint, whether it is ponds and linseed oil, stand oil, black oil with litharge, Liquin ™, Oil gel ™ Maroger, lavender spikeoil, etc. Too good control over consistency and detail work, we recommend our own paint. If you use solvents to clean brushes outdoors or in a ventilated room, Gamsol ™, turpentine, Terpenoid ™ Alcohol and ethanol, etc can be used. If, on the other hand, you do not like solvents, you can use special cleansing soap or liquid brown soap for the same purpose.

Cadmium yellow light is toxic and must not be eaten or otherwise ingested. The product has not been allergy-tested, but if you only use it for its intended purpose – to paint with a brush and palette knife – there is no immediate health risk.
