Emerald green artist color with high pigment content, pure linseed oil and without solvents. The consistency is like butter at room temperature, and for many artists the paint can be used directly from the tube without the addition of paint.
Emerald green is a deep blue-green color that leans more towards green than blue. It is mixed with linseed oil and the synthetic pigment (PG18) Chromium oxide dihydrate Cr2O3 • 2 H2O. It is a completely chemically stable pigment that resists UV light, as well as the influence of acids and bases. The synthetic pigment was first manufactured by the French dye manufacturer Pannetier in 1836. A chemist named Guignet from Paris found another and cheaper way to mass produce the same pigment, and patented it in 1859. At that time, the non-toxic pigment was quite revolutionary. , because it replaced several emerald green alternatives which contained either arsenic or lead.
Emerald green is one of the most valuable and durable colors in art painting. It has proven to be absolutely indispensable in landscape painting. The color, which is lively green and completely lightfast, is by nature more laser-like than opaque but possesses a high degree of intensity.
There is a bit of confusion about the names of the color in different languages as is the case with the names of many other colors. Translated into English, it becomes Emerald green. But Emerald green is not Emerald green but a mixture of copper acetate and arsenite, which is an extremely toxic and not a very durable color. Its Danish names are Schweinfurthergrønt, Veronesergrønt or emeraldgrønt. The color, for example, does not tolerate mixing with a number of dyes, including cadmium yellow. So rather use our emerald green instead.
Emerald green is called in English Viridian or Emerald Oxide of Chromium. As can be seen, the designation of artist colors is full of possibilities for misunderstandings.
This oil paint can and must be mixed with oil paints from other manufacturers. The same goes for paint. Since this is such a chemically pure and simple product without mysterious fillers, it must also be mixed with your own favorite paint, whether it is ponds and linseed oil, stand oil, black oil with litharge, Liquin ™, Oil gel ™ Maroger, lavender spikeoil, etc. Too good control over consistency and detail work, we recommend our own paint. If you use solvents to clean brushes outdoors or in a ventilated room, Gamsol ™, turpentine, Terpenoid ™ Alcohol and ethanol, etc can be used. If, on the other hand, you do not like solvents, you can use special cleansing soap or liquid brown soap for the same purpose.

Emerald green is not toxic / toxic, but must not be eaten or otherwise ingested. The product is not allergy-tested, but if you only use it for its intended purpose – painting with a brush and palette knife – there is no immediate health hazard.
