Plein air paint in paint tubes

Plein air comes from French and means free air, and the term covers what is called outdoor painting, where the painter seeks to portray nature in the open air, as close to reality as possible and nevertheless tries to capture the immediate light and color impressions. It came a lot with the Impressionists after the invention of tubes to store the colors made it easier to move out into nature rather than standing in his studio.

Often used in plein air, cool hues, where the bluish / green often plays a prominent role.

Particularly pronounced was this color choice in Dutch painting in the years from 1625 to 1650 with a preference for monochrome images in blue, green and earth tones. (See also our set of green and blue oil colors as well as earth colors). In this set we have included a fantastic Emerald Green and a Cerulian ‘Blue.

As English representatives of this genre may be mentioned no less than John Constable and J.M.W. Turner. Pleinairism is also described as a precursor to Impressionism. This also spread to the Skagen painters, such as P.S. Krøyer, who often completed his pictures in the outdoors.

These tubes of oil paint can and must be mixed with oil paint from other manufacturers. The same goes for paint. Since this is such a chemically pure and simple product without mysterious fillers, it must also be mixed with your own favorite paint, whether it is ponds and linseed oil, stand oil, black oil with litharge, Liquin ™, Oil gel ™ Maroger, lavender spike oil, etc. Too good control over consistency and detail work, we recommend our own paint. If you use solvents to clean brushes outdoors or in a ventilated room, Gamsol ™, turpentine, Terpenoid ™ Alcohol and ethanol, etc can be used. If, on the other hand, you do not like solvents, you can use special cleansing soap or liquid brown soap for the same purpose.
