Description
Set of primary tubes of oil paint which has a high pigment load, pure linseed oil and no solvents. The consistency is like butter at room temperature.
You have probably learned that primary colors are the colors that cannot be formed by mixing other colors together, and that all other colours can be formed by mixing these primary colours. If only it were that simple, then we could just sell three colors; but we will get to that in more detail elsewhere on this website.
When several pigments are mixed together, the mixed colour will absorb more light and reflect less light than the original colors before mixing. The result is that the mixed color for us appears darker. The more colors we mix, the darker the colors seem. This is called subtractive color mixing as opposed to additive color mixing which applies to light sources of different colors that when mixed appear as lighter colors.
Therefore, when we talk about pigments, there will be many colors that are not available if you only start with the primary colors red, blue and yellow, which in our case are: Magenta, Cadmium light, and Cerulian blue. We have therefore included Ivory Black and Titanium White as well as supplemented with Cadmium Red to have an extra red color. One can put together primary color sets in several ways but this set is definitely a workable compromise.
These tubes of oil paint can and must be mixed with oil paint from other manufacturers. The same goes for paint medium. Since this is such a chemically pure and simple product without mysterious fillers, it must also be mixed with your own favorite paint medium, whether it is dammar and linseed oil, stand oil, black oil with litharge, Liquin ™, Oil gel ™ Maroger, lavender spike oil, etc. For good control consistency and detail work, we recommend our own paint medium. If you use solvents to clean brushes outdoors or in a ventilated room, Gamsol ™, turpentine, Terpenoid ™ Alcohol and ethanol, etc can be used. If, on the other hand, you do not like solvents, you can use special cleansing soap or liquid brown soap for the same purpose.
